Can patients with anemia drink milk tea?
I was recently diagnosed with mild anemia. I used to love drinking milk tea, but now I'm really conflicted. I just want to ask, can people with anemia drink milk tea? Will it affect the condition?

In general, patients with anemia can drink milk tea, but should do so in moderation.
The carbohydrates in milk tea can provide energy and, to some extent, alleviate physical fatigue and other discomforts caused by anemia. Additionally, moderate consumption of milk tea helps replenish fluids and supports normal metabolic function. Furthermore, drinking milk tea in moderation may improve appetite and help relieve anorexia that may accompany anemia.
However, the milk component in milk tea contains relatively high levels of phosphorus. Phosphorus can combine with iron in the body to form insoluble compounds, and excessive consumption of milk tea may interfere with iron absorption, thus affecting the effectiveness of anemia treatment. Moreover, milk tea often contains high levels of sugar, and long-term excessive consumption may lead to metabolic disorders such as obesity and diabetes, which can indirectly affect overall health. Therefore, it is recommended that patients with anemia consume milk tea in moderation.
In daily life, patients with anemia should maintain a balanced diet and consume more iron-rich foods such as red meat, vegetables, and soy products to aid in the recovery from anemia.
