Can Artemisia water be consumed?
Recently, I heard from my neighbor that mugwort water is good for health. But I feel doubtful inside. Can mugwort water even be consumed? Could drinking it cause any health problems?

Under normal circumstances, mugwort water can be consumed, but it should be taken in appropriate amounts according to individual constitution.
Mugwort is a commonly used traditional Chinese medicine containing active ingredients such as volatile oils, flavonoids, and polysaccharides. It can effectively remove toxins from the body, reduce inflammatory responses, and help alleviate symptoms such as colds, fever, and sore throat. Additionally, it has various therapeutic effects, including warming the meridians to dispel cold, stopping bleeding, and regulating menstruation. It is non-toxic and generally associated with minimal side effects. Therefore, drinking mugwort water in appropriate amounts is beneficial to health.
However, excessive or long-term consumption may cause gastrointestinal discomfort or allergic reactions. Moreover, its suitability varies among individuals. Pregnant and lactating women should avoid using mugwort products, as mugwort may induce uterine contractions, which could be harmful to the fetus or newborn. Individuals with chronic conditions such as liver disease, kidney disease, hypertension, or heart disease should consult a qualified physician before using mugwort to avoid worsening their conditions.
Before consuming mugwort water, it is advisable to seek advice from a doctor or licensed traditional Chinese medicine practitioner to avoid self-medicating blindly and to ensure its effectiveness and safety.
