It is acceptable to consume small amounts of crawfish during lactation, but attention should be paid to cooking methods and individual physical conditions. Crawfish are rich in high-quality protein and trace elements, which can benefit breast milk production; however, as crustacean seafood, they may cause allergic reactions. If there is no prior history of seafood allergies and the crawfish are thoroughly cooked, they generally will not directly cause decreased milk supply or infant discomfort. However, excessive consumption or improper preparation may lead to diarrhea, which could indirectly affect the quality of breast milk.

During lactation, it is recommended to choose fresh, fully cooked crawfish, avoid fried preparations or spicy seasonings, limit intake to less than 150 grams per serving, and refrain from eating the head or shell. Observe for 24 hours after consumption; if the baby develops rashes, fussiness, or if you experience abdominal pain or rashes, discontinue consumption immediately and seek medical advice. Individuals with hyperuricemia should reduce the frequency of intake. A balanced diet incorporating vegetables and grains is important, and drinking warm water before and after breastfeeding can aid digestion. If milk supply decreases, consider first whether insufficient hydration or lack of sleep may be contributing factors. Those with allergic constitutions should initially consume only a small amount and extend the observation period.
