I am a 35-year-old male with明显 receding hairline and thinning hair on the crown. This condition has persisted for two years without improvement. I would like to know whether hair follicles can regrow hair after complete baldness occurs.

Whether hair can regrow after hair loss depends on the survival status of the hair follicles. In the early stages of hair loss, if the follicles are only in a dormant or atrophied state, hair growth may be restored through medication or treatment. However, if the follicles have completely necrotized, the possibility of natural regrowth is extremely low. For patients with androgenetic alopecia, hair follicles gradually miniaturize under the influence of dihydrotestosterone. Timely intervention can slow disease progression, and some patients in the early stages may maintain existing hair or experience partial regrowth through treatment.

To address hair loss effectively, it is recommended to seek medical evaluation early to assess follicle activity, identify the underlying cause of hair loss, and develop an appropriate treatment plan. If viable follicles are present, topical minoxidil solution may be used to promote blood circulation. In daily life, maintaining a healthy lifestyle is important—avoiding late nights, excessive stress, and ensuring adequate intake of protein, vitamins, and minerals to provide essential nutritional support for hair growth. Using gentle hair care products, avoiding frequent hair dyeing or perming, and minimizing scalp irritation are also advised. If follicular function cannot be restored, hair transplantation or other cosmetic medical procedures may be considered to improve appearance.
