Is the purine content in yogurt high?
I recently found out during a physical examination that my uric acid level is elevated. I would like to know if yogurt has a high purine content.

Purines are substances found in many foods that metabolize into uric acid in the body. Excessive uric acid may lead to diseases such as gout. The purine content in yogurt is not high.
As a dairy product, yogurt has a relatively low purine content, with approximately 2 to 3 milligrams of purines per 100 grams, significantly lower than the threshold for high-purine foods. It is generally considered suitable for individuals with gout or those needing to control their purine intake.
During the fermentation process, an increase in bacterial count may cause the purine content of yogurt to rise slightly compared to raw materials like milk. However, its purine levels remain low. Additionally, yogurt is rich in nutrients such as protein and calcium, and moderate consumption contributes to maintaining overall health.
Moreover, although yogurt itself does not contain high levels of purines, it is still important to monitor total purine intake when consuming it alongside other high-purine foods. Moderate consumption is generally safe for most people.
