I've been through a lot these days. My vaginal discharge has not only increased, but it has also turned grayish in color, resembling a paste-like consistency, and emits a fishy odor. I looked it up online and found that it might be bacterial vaginitis. I would like to know what symptoms are associated with this condition?

Bacterial vaginitis, also known as bacterial vaginosis, may present symptoms such as abnormal discharge, odor, pain, discomfort, dyspareunia (pain during intercourse), and other manifestations.
Bacterial vaginosis is a common infection of the female reproductive system, primarily caused by an imbalance of the normal vaginal flora. Symptoms may include abnormal vaginal discharge, which is typically grayish-white or yellow-green in color, thin in consistency, and increased in quantity. The vaginal discharge in bacterial vaginitis often has a distinct odor, especially a fishy smell, due to the high ammonia content in the discharge.
In some cases, there may be pain during sexual intercourse or discomfort during urination. A few patients may experience dyspareunia, lower abdominal pain, or abnormal sensations during urination. Patients may also feel itching, pain, or a burning sensation in the vulvar region, and these symptoms might become more pronounced during periods of rest or when emotionally stressed.
It is important to note that some patients may not exhibit any obvious symptoms; however, treatment is still necessary to prevent complications such as increased risk of sexually transmitted diseases, adverse effects on pregnancy, and complications during childbirth.
