My niece is 15 years old. She went out to play yesterday and was bitten many times, resulting in numerous swollen, itchy bumps. Scratching them causes pain, yet she can't resist the urge to scratch. I would like to know how to reduce swelling and relieve itching caused by mosquito bites?

Dr. Zhou Xiaofeng

Baby's mosquito bites are particularly itchy, and usually, you can apply flower dew water (a type of insect bite relief liquid). Additionally, washing the area with soap and water may help relieve the itching. You can also apply wind oil (a topical analgesic) to reduce itching, but wind oil is suitable for babies aged one month or older. If the itching does not improve, it is best to visit a hospital and follow the doctor's advice regarding the use of anti-itch creams or medications. After a mosquito bite, a baby's skin may be delicate; to avoid infection, do not scratch excessively. It is also important to maintain local hygiene in daily care.
