Eye swelling in children can be caused by various factors. Common causes include allergic reactions, eye infections, fatigue or lack of sleep, and dietary factors. Allergic reactions may occur after exposure to pollen, dust mites, or other allergens, presenting as red, swollen, and itchy eyes. Eye infections such as conjunctivitis can also cause swelling, accompanied by increased discharge and redness. In addition, prolonged eye use or insufficient sleep may lead to eye fatigue and mild swelling. If the child has consumed excessive salt recently, periorbital edema may also occur.

It is recommended to observe whether the child has other accompanying symptoms such as redness, discharge, itching, or pain. Keep the child's eyes clean and discourage rubbing the eyes to avoid worsening symptoms. Ensure the child gets adequate rest and sufficient sleep. Reduce salt intake and encourage drinking more water to help the body eliminate excess fluid. If the swelling persists or is accompanied by other symptoms, seek medical attention promptly for a thorough examination and appropriate treatment. Additionally, maintain a clean home environment by regularly washing bedding and toys to minimize exposure to allergens.
