Bags and swelling under the eyes are usually caused by multiple factors. One common cause is lack of sleep or poor sleep quality, which leads to poor blood circulation around the eyes and accumulation of fluid in the surrounding tissues. Consuming excessive salt in the diet can also cause fluid retention in the body, resulting in under-eye swelling. Allergic reactions, such as allergies to pollen, dust mites, or certain foods, may also cause swelling around the eyes. Additionally, as people age, skin elasticity weakens and fat and muscle tissues tend to sag, making under-eye swelling more likely. Other contributing factors include prolonged use of electronic devices, excessive fatigue, and hormonal changes.

It is recommended to improve lifestyle habits and ensure sufficient sleep, aiming for at least 7–8 hours per night, while maintaining a regular sleep schedule. Reduce salt intake, avoid high-sodium foods, and drink plenty of water to promote metabolism. Maintain proper eye hygiene, avoid rubbing the eyes, and use gentle eye care products. If swelling is suspected to be allergy-related, try avoiding contact with allergens and consult a doctor regarding the need for antiallergic medications. Regular eye massage can help promote blood circulation and reduce swelling. Applying ice packs or cold compresses to the eyes may also help alleviate puffiness. If under-eye swelling persists or is accompanied by other symptoms, seek medical attention promptly.
