In general, pregnant women can consume pepper powder, but should do so in moderation.

Due to hormonal changes during pregnancy, loss of appetite is common. The spicy aroma of pepper powder can stimulate the taste nerves, enhance appetite, and help pregnant women obtain sufficient nutrition. Adding a small amount of pepper powder to soups or bland dishes can improve flavor and alleviate difficulties in eating caused by morning sickness. Pepper powder can also promote saliva secretion, aiding digestion, particularly beneficial for women in early pregnancy who experience insufficient gastric acid production. Its warming properties can relieve stomach discomfort caused by cold exposure; for example, consuming hot soup with added pepper powder in winter can promote blood circulation.

However, it should be consumed in moderation, as excessive intake may cause stomach pain, bloating, heartburn, and even worsen gastroesophageal reflux during pregnancy. The recommended daily intake for pregnant women should not exceed 0.5–1 gram, and highly spiced foods containing large amounts of pepper powder should be avoided. If any discomfort occurs after consumption, it should be discontinued immediately and a physician consulted. During pregnancy, maintaining a balanced diet, eating more fresh vegetables and fruits, consuming adequate high-quality protein, and paying attention to food hygiene are even more important.
