Most floaters are caused by the natural aging process of the vitreous and are considered physiological floaters. They usually do not require special treatment, and patients can reduce the disturbance of symptoms through eye movements.

For patients with more noticeable symptoms or accompanying other eye diseases, medication may be an option. Commonly used medications include iodinated phospholipid complex preparations, aniodipeptide eye drops, etc., which can help improve vitreous metabolism and promote absorption of turbid materials. However, it should be noted that the effectiveness of medication varies among individuals and cannot completely cure floaters.

For patients with severe symptoms, large opacities within the vitreous cavity, and ineffective medication, laser surgery may be an effective treatment. Through laser ablation, opacities can be vaporized and fragmented; following multiple laser applications, the opacities can be reduced to extremely small particles, making floater symptoms barely noticeable visually.

In addition to medical interventions, maintaining good lifestyle habits can also help slow the progression of floaters, such as avoiding prolonged screen staring, undergoing regular eye examinations, and maintaining proper eye hygiene.
