Smoke, dust, or overly cold air can irritate the throat, causing itching and coughing. Allergens in the air, such as pollen, dust mites, pet dander, or mold, may also lead to throat itching and a cough.

Extended talking, shouting, or singing can tire the throat, causing itching and coughing. Upper respiratory tract infections are common causes of these symptoms, including viral infections like the common cold and influenza, which can cause sore throat, coughing, sneezing, and related discomforts.

Pharyngitis can be triggered by various factors, such as excessive smoking and drinking or frequent loud speaking, leading to inflammatory irritation in the throat and resulting in coughing and throat itching. Infections, allergies, smoking, and other factors may cause bronchitis, irritating the airways and leading to coughing and throat itching.

If symptoms persist without improvement, or if they are accompanied by severe symptoms such as fever, difficulty breathing, or persistent hoarseness, it is recommended to seek medical attention promptly for accurate diagnosis and treatment. Additionally, maintaining adequate hydration and avoiding irritating foods and environments can help alleviate discomfort.
