Treatment of enteritis mainly depends on its type and severity. Viral enteritis usually does not require etiological treatment and often resolves spontaneously.

Bacterial enteritis requires selection of antimicrobial agents based on results of bacterial susceptibility testing. For example, bacterial dysentery is commonly treated with compound sulfamethoxazole, pipemidic acid, gentamicin, etc.

A bland and easily digestible diet may be required initially, avoiding greasy, spicy foods and those high in fiber. Maintaining adequate fluid intake to prevent dehydration is important, and intravenous fluid administration may be necessary when required. Exercise therapy, such as walking or cycling, can be beneficial after the condition stabilizes, promoting gastrointestinal metabolism.

Spasmolytic medications can be used to relieve abdominal pain, and antacids may reduce stomach discomfort. Drugs that reduce intestinal motility and secretion, such as atropine and belladonna, can help alleviate pain and diarrhea. Antibiotic medications, such as norfloxacin, are used for anti-inflammatory treatment. Antiviral drugs, such as ribavirin, are used to treat viral infections.

Patients with enteritis should undergo treatment under a doctor's guidance and schedule regular follow-up visits to monitor the condition and adjust the treatment plan as necessary.
