There are numerous causes of facial neuritis, with the following being the most common: 1. Metabolic disorders—such as uremia, diabetes mellitus, and chronic gastrointestinal diseases—may predispose individuals to facial neuritis. 2. Facial neuritis may also result from alcohol intoxication, drug toxicity, or prolonged exposure to heavy metals. 3. Cold exposure and viral infections—including herpes zoster—are also associated with facial neuritis.
