Growing pains refer to discomfort caused by bone growth around the knee joint. They typically manifest as unexplained leg pain, most commonly occurring in prepubescent children. During childhood, bones grow rapidly while muscles and tendons develop more slowly, leading to musculoskeletal imbalance and resulting in physiological pain. Symptoms are often more pronounced at night after a day of physical activity.
