Are genital warts truly contagious?
Disease description:
Recently, I developed red spots on my genital area. After undergoing an examination, my doctor diagnosed me with genital warts. I would like to ask: Are genital warts truly contagious?
Genital warts are indeed contagious, primarily transmitted through sexual contact; however, indirect contact transmission cannot be ruled out. Common symptoms include genital itching, papules, and erythematous plaques. Genital warts are an infectious disease caused by human papillomavirus (HPV). Under a physician’s guidance, targeted oral antiviral medications should be administered for treatment. Sexual intercourse must be avoided during the course of treatment.
