4.4 What is the visual acuity?
Disease description:
Two days ago, during a routine health check-up at my workplace, I noticed a slight decline in my vision. My visual acuity test result was 4.4. I would like to know: what is the corresponding refractive error (in diopters) for a visual acuity of 4.4?
Hello,
Each person’s eyes have varying degrees of sensitivity. Vision testing primarily assesses whether an individual has myopia (nearsightedness), refractive errors, or astigmatism. As such, vision testing encompasses multiple methods, and visual acuity is generally *not* quantified in “degrees.”
A visual acuity of 4.4 (on the Chinese logarithmic视力 scale) typically indicates myopia, roughly equivalent to −3.00 diopters (D). Therefore, corrective lenses are usually recommended for visual acuity of 4.4. Without appropriate optical correction, visual acuity may progressively deteriorate over time.
