Mechanism of Action of Trimetazidine Hydrochloride
Disease description:
Recently, I’ve frequently felt pain and a sensation of tightness or pressure in my chest. After visiting the hospital for evaluation, my doctor prescribed trimetazidine hydrochloride. What is the mechanism of action of trimetazidine hydrochloride?
This medication primarily functions to dilate the coronary arteries. If chest pain occurs, this drug can be used for symptomatic management; it may also be combined with other coronary vasodilators for enhanced therapeutic effect. It is mainly indicated for the management of angina pectoris associated with coronary artery disease. However, if symptoms are severe or recurrent and fail to respond adequately to medical therapy, coronary stent placement may be considered.
