Disease description:

I am a medical student and would like to ask a physician: What does it mean if urinary microalbumin is 100 mg/L, urine protein is weakly positive, and serum creatinine is below the detectable limit (i.e., <0.0 mg/dL or undetectable)?

Under normal circumstances, trace amounts of protein should not be present in urine. The current detection of proteinuria primarily indicates an underlying renal abnormality or disease. Additionally, poor dietary habits may also contribute to this finding. It is recommended to undergo regular follow-up testing and strictly regulate your diet—specifically, reducing intake of high-protein foods—and further evaluate for conditions such as glomerulonephritis.
