A common cause of this symptom is likely prostate disease, especially in middle-aged and elderly patients. The most frequent conditions include benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and prostatic enlargement. We recommend visiting the urology department for evaluation, including a transrectal or abdominal color Doppler ultrasound of the prostate, urinalysis, and renal function tests to establish a definitive diagnosis. If the symptoms are due to BPH or prostatic enlargement, medical therapy targeting the prostate may be initiated.
