How long can hemophilia patients live?
Disease description:
I have hemophilia and am worried that I won’t live long. How long can people with hemophilia expect to live?
People with hemophilia typically live for several decades. Hemophilia is a relatively severe blood disorder, but it does not directly affect life expectancy. However, patients should avoid intramuscular injections and trauma, abstain from tobacco and alcohol, and avoid surgeries or diagnostic procedures that may cause bleeding. Regular hospital visits for replacement therapy with the deficient clotting factor are also recommended.
