Symptoms of Stage 5 Diabetic Kidney Failure
Disease description:
My father was diagnosed with diabetes a few years ago. Today, he developed new health issues, and a friend suggested these might be signs of kidney failure. Could you please explain the symptoms of Stage 5 diabetic kidney disease (end-stage renal disease)?
Long-term progression of diabetes can cause glomerular injury, leading to renal failure. Renal failure is primarily characterized by disturbances in water and electrolyte metabolism, oliguria, anuria, hyperkalemia, and cardiac failure. Without timely and effective treatment, this condition can become life-threatening. It is recommended that the patient promptly consult a nephrologist; dialysis may be considered to sustain life. Additionally, strict restriction of fluid intake is required.
