How Should Diabetic Patients Care for Wounds?
Disease description:
I was diagnosed with diabetes a few years ago, and I recently sustained a leg injury from a fall. How should wounds be cared for in people with diabetes?
Perform disinfection and daily care. Prompt disinfection is essential after a leg fracture to prevent bacterial infection and excessive bacterial proliferation at the wound site, which would impede healing. Additionally, avoid strenuous physical activity in daily life, as it may cause wound dehiscence and delay recovery. Regarding diet, increase intake of calcium-rich foods—such as bone soup and pigeon soup—to support bone growth and regeneration.
