Introduction
Sudden dizziness and nausea at 28 weeks of pregnancy may result from an upper respiratory tract viral infection or elevated blood pressure in the pregnant woman, both of which can cause fever. Body temperature should therefore be closely monitored. If the temperature is below 38°C, measures such as increased fluid intake, physical cooling, alcohol sponging, or warm-water bathing may be employed. If the temperature exceeds 38.5°C, paracetamol tablets may be taken orally under a physician’s guidance.

Pregnancy is a joyful yet challenging experience. Nausea and vomiting are common during pregnancy, especially in the early stages. But what if dizziness and nausea suddenly occur at 28 weeks of gestation?

Dizziness and Nausea at 28 Weeks of Pregnancy

Sudden dizziness and nausea at 28 weeks of pregnancy may result from an upper respiratory viral infection or elevated blood pressure in the pregnant woman, both of which can cause fever. It is essential to monitor her body temperature closely. If the temperature remains below 38°C, supportive measures such as increased fluid intake, physical cooling methods (e.g., tepid sponge baths or warm baths), and alcohol sponging may be employed. If the temperature exceeds 38.5°C, paracetamol tablets may be taken orally—but only under a physician’s guidance. Alternatively, these symptoms could indicate pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH), possibly due to a sudden rise in blood pressure. In such cases, immediate hospitalization at a reputable obstetrics and gynecology facility is necessary for continuous blood pressure monitoring. If blood pressure is markedly elevated, antihypertensive medications must be administered strictly under medical supervision to prevent harm to both mother and fetus.

Pregnant women may consume light, familiar foods they enjoy, while reducing intake of fruits, vegetables, and other potentially irritating items—especially greasy foods—to help alleviate stress and anxiety. Vitamin B6 supplements can effectively relieve early-pregnancy nausea, but dosage must be carefully controlled to avoid adverse drug effects. During early pregnancy, when nausea occurs, women should remain calm and avoid undue worry; maintaining a relaxed and positive mindset is critically important.

Pregnant women should pay close attention to food hygiene in daily life, opting for light, easily digestible meals. They should avoid fried foods and stimulating beverages to prevent indigestion and vomiting.
