Can watermelon and lychee be eaten together?
Under normal circumstances, watermelon and lychee can be consumed together, but in moderation.
Watermelon contains abundant nutrients such as glucose, malic acid, and vitamin C, and has effects of clearing heat, relieving summer heat, promoting the production of body fluids, quenching thirst, and increasing urination. Lychee contains various nutrients including glucose, sucrose, and protein, and helps strengthen the spleen and stimulate body fluid production, making it suitable for individuals with weak constitution or insufficient body fluids. The nutrients in watermelon and lychee do not conflict with each other; consuming them together typically does not cause adverse effects and may even promote nutrient absorption. Therefore, it is safe to eat watermelon and lychee together.
However, both should be consumed in moderation. Watermelon is a cooling food, and excessive consumption may lead to diarrhea or abdominal pain. Patients with impaired kidney function or edema should limit their intake of watermelon to avoid increasing the burden on the kidneys. Lychee contains a special amino acid substance; overconsumption may cause a drop in blood sugar levels, leading to symptoms such as cold limbs and pallor. When eating watermelon and lychee, it's important to maintain a balanced diet and avoid spicy or irritating foods.
