Introduction
If a patient is in the recovery phase of gastric ulcer, without discomfort symptoms and with gastrointestinal function gradually returning to normal, it is acceptable to eat an appropriate amount of plums to help supplement nutrients, enhance immunity, and promote digestion and absorption. However, if the patient is currently experiencing an active gastric ulcer episode and the condition is not yet fully controlled, eating plums is generally not recommended, as it may irritate the gastrointestinal tract, increase gastric acid secretion, and worsen symptoms.

Whether patients with gastric ulcers can eat plums depends on the stage of the disease.

1. Recovery phase of gastric ulcer

If the patient is in the recovery phase of gastric ulcer, without discomfort symptoms and with gastrointestinal function gradually recovering, it may be appropriate to consume some plums. Plums can help supplement nutrients, enhance immunity, and aid digestion and absorption. Generally, they do not have adverse effects on gastric ulcers at this stage.

2. Acute phase of gastric ulcer

If the patient is experiencing an active episode of gastric ulcer that is not yet fully controlled, noticeable symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and bloating may occur, and normal gastrointestinal function may be impaired. During this period, patients should mainly eat easily digestible and bland foods, such as millet porridge or noodles. Eating plums is generally not recommended because they contain relatively high levels of acidic substances. Consuming plums may stimulate the gastrointestinal tract, increase gastric acid secretion, worsen discomfort symptoms, and potentially加重 the digestive burden, leading to indigestion.
