After a hysterectomy, if the uterine incision heals well, and there is no abdominal pain or fever, but the vaginal discharge is slightly yellow or has an odor, it is often caused by vaginitis and requires a routine secretion test. If diagnosed with vaginitis, treatment with vaginal metronidazole suppositories or dual-zoletin suppositories should be administered under a doctor's guidance. After hysterectomy, if there is a local wound infection, the discharge may appear yellow.

Yellow-colored vaginal discharge after a total hysterectomy is considered abnormal. Normally, vaginal discharge is milky white. Yellow discharge is often caused by irritation from vaginal inflammation, specifically as follows:
