How to massage for pubic pain
Causes of pubic pain include trauma, ligament laxity, and postpartum pubic pain. Massage methods such as pressing and kneading tender points, palm rubbing, and acupoint massage can help alleviate symptoms.
1. Trauma
If soft tissue pain and swelling at the pubic symphysis are caused by external injuries such as collisions or impacts, massaging the tender points with the thumb can help relieve pain and promote blood circulation to remove blood stasis.
2. Ligament Laxity
If pain results from pubic dislocation due to ligament laxity, proper realignment should first be performed, followed by local palm kneading. This helps unblock meridians and relieve pain.
3. Postpartum Pubic Pain
Postpartum pubic pain can be relieved by massaging the lumbosacral region. Begin by using the thumb to press and knead acupoints such as Baihuan Shu, Baliao, Huan Tiao, and Zhi Bian. Then apply pushing, rubbing, tapping, and beating techniques to the lumbosacral tissues until a slight warmth is felt, which helps reduce pain.
In addition to the above massage techniques, gently pushing and rubbing the inner thigh muscles can also relax local soft tissues and alleviate pubic pain. Note that massage only provides symptomatic relief; if pain is severe, prompt medical attention at a hospital is recommended.
