Can people with pityriasis rosea eat bananas?
If you have pityriasis rosea, you can eat bananas in moderation, as this will not worsen the condition and may even promote recovery.
Pityriasis rosea is a common inflammatory skin disease that typically affects the trunk and proximal limbs, presenting with variably sized pink patches, possibly caused by a viral infection. It is characterized by oval, rose-colored patches with fine, bran-like scales, and usually resolves spontaneously within 6 to 8 weeks. Patients with pityriasis rosea can safely consume bananas, which contain nutrients such as carbohydrates, protein, vitamin C, dietary fiber, and minerals. Bananas help nourish the stomach, generate body fluids, improve blood circulation, and detoxify alcohol. The high vitamin C content in bananas also has anti-allergic properties, helping to relieve itching caused by pityriasis rosea.
However, patients should avoid highly allergenic fruits such as mangoes and kiwifruits, as these may exacerbate symptoms and hinder recovery.
