Which meridian is the Xuehai acupoint located on?
The Xuehai (Blood Sea) acupoint is located on the Spleen Meridian of Foot-Taiyin. It is primarily used to treat functional uterine bleeding, orchitis, urticaria, eczema, pruritus, neurodermatitis, anemia, hematochezia, hematuria, lower limb paralysis, and soft tissue inflammation around the knee joint.
Xuehai is a key acupoint for treating blood-related disorders, known for promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, enriching and nourishing the blood, and guiding blood back to its proper channels. As a major point for generating blood and resolving blood stasis, it is easy to locate: place the palm over the kneecap with fingers pointing upward and the hand naturally spread; the point lies just below the tip of the thumb. Alternatively, when sitting on a chair with the leg straightened, a depression appears on the inner side of the knee; above this depression there is a raised muscle, and the top of this muscle marks the Xuehai point.
Patients may massage this point for five minutes each time, twice daily, to achieve therapeutic effects. If acupuncture is preferred, it is recommended to visit a qualified medical institution or hospital to avoid potential harm to the body.
