Introduction
Nausea upon waking may result from overeating, causing excessive food to accumulate in the stomach and slowing gastric emptying. It could be caused by binge eating or chronic gastritis due to Helicobacter pylori infection. Excessive gastric acid secretion often irritates the gastric mucosa, leading to symptoms. Frequent consumption of spicy or irritating foods, bacterial infections, or inflammatory stimuli may cause ulceration of the gastric mucosa.

Morning nausea may be caused by indigestion, gastritis, peptic ulcer, or other reasons.

1. Indigestion

This may occur due to overeating in one sitting, leading to indigestion and food accumulation in the stomach, which slows gastric emptying. It may also be accompanied by discomfort symptoms such as abdominal bloating and vomiting.

2. Chronic Gastritis

This may result from overeating or Helicobacter pylori infection causing chronic gastritis. Inflammation is typically present in the gastric mucosa, and excessive gastric acid secretion can irritate the mucosa, resulting in nausea.

3. Peptic Ulcer

This may be due to the development of a peptic ulcer, often caused by frequent consumption of spicy or irritating foods, bacterial infection, or inflammatory stimulation, leading to excessive gastric acid secretion in the gastrointestinal tract and the formation of ulcers on the gastric mucosa. Symptoms such as acid reflux and heartburn may also occur.

Besides the above factors, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) could also be a cause. It is recommended to identify the underlying cause and follow standardized treatment under a doctor's guidance.
