Is jaundice of the liver serious?
Jaundice liver refers to hepatocellular jaundice, which is usually severe.
Under normal circumstances, the liver has strong metabolic and regenerative capabilities. Mild to moderate liver damage typically results in elevated transaminase levels without causing hepatocellular jaundice. However, when liver damage is more severe—such as in the late stages of disease or rapidly progressing severe conditions—it may lead to significant liver impairment and result in hepatocellular jaundice. This condition is serious and requires prompt treatment to prevent life-threatening complications.
It is recommended to seek timely medical evaluation and undergo appropriate diagnostic tests. Treatment should be targeted based on test results; for example, jaundice liver caused by hepatitis B usually requires antiviral therapy against hepatitis B virus.
