Ultrasound findings of breast cancer
Breast cancer may appear on ultrasound as lesions with unclear borders, irregular shape, and hypoechoic changes.
1. Unclear Borders
During breast ultrasound examination, localized irregular masses with poorly defined margins are often observed in patients with breast cancer, and most of these masses have an uneven surface.
2. Irregular Shape
Ultrasound may also reveal breast masses with irregular morphology, along with localized encapsulated masses.
3. Hypoechoic Lesions
A hypoechoic zone may appear adjacent to the tumor. In areas of active growth, abundant blood flow can be detected. Breast ultrasound is valuable for diagnosing and differentiating breast cancer and assessing tumor characteristics. It is the preferred imaging method for lactating women, young women, and pregnant women.
Breast cancer is a malignant condition and ranks first among female malignant tumors in terms of incidence. Diagnosis of this disease also requires additional examinations such as mammography (breast X-ray with molybdenum target), breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), tissue biopsy, breast tumor marker tests, and immunohistochemical analysis.
