Itching at the finger and toe joints
Itching in the joints of fingers and toes may be caused by physiological factors, or pathological conditions such as contact dermatitis and eczema. Treatment can be achieved through general care or medication. Specific details are as follows:
1. Physiological Factors
If a patient wears uncomfortable shoes or socks, it may irritate the feet and cause itching. It is recommended to wear loose, comfortable footwear and avoid prolonged walking.
2. Pathological Factors
1) Contact Dermatitis
This is usually a skin condition triggered by exposure to external substances, such as pollen or animal hair. Under inflammatory stimulation, symptoms like swelling and itching may occur. Treatment may include topical application of clobetasol acetate cream or oral administration of methylprednisolone tablets, under medical supervision.
2) Eczema
This is typically an inflammatory skin disorder that may be triggered by various internal or external factors. Eczema is characterized by symmetrically distributed blisters accompanied by itching. Topical treatments such as desonide cream or tacrolimus ointment may be used under a doctor's guidance.
In addition to the above causes, itching may also result from neurodermatitis, dyshidrotic eczema, or tinea manuum/pedis. Avoid scratching with hands and maintain cleanliness in the affected areas.
