Introduction
In general, persistent arm pain after stent surgery may be related to factors such as arm strain, blood vessel injury, vascular occlusion, phlebitis, or cervical spondylosis, and treatment should be directed accordingly. If the cardiac stent procedure was lengthy, maintaining the same position for an extended period during surgery may lead to postoperative arm pain, which typically resolves shortly after the procedure.

Generally, persistent arm pain after stent surgery may be related to arm fatigue, vascular injury, vessel occlusion, phlebitis, or cervical spondylosis, and requires symptomatic treatment. Specific causes are analyzed as follows:

1. Arm Fatigue

If the cardiac stent procedure lasts a long time and the patient maintains the same position for an extended period, postoperative arm pain may occur due to muscle strain. This type of pain usually resolves spontaneously within a short time after surgery and does not require special treatment.

2. Vascular Injury

During the cardiac stenting procedure, guidewires pass through the radial or brachial arteries, which may cause damage to the vessel walls and result in postoperative arm pain. Applying heat packs or topical magnesium sulfate solution as directed by a physician typically leads to recovery within about one week; however, more severe cases may take 1–2 months to heal.

3. Vessel Occlusion

Occlusion of the radial or brachial artery can impair blood flow and lead to arm pain. Prompt medical attention is required, with treatments such as intra-arterial thrombolysis or surgical thrombectomy.

4. Phlebitis

If phlebitis develops after cardiac stenting, local blood circulation may become impaired, affecting blood flow to the arm and causing ischemic pain. Patients are advised to take blood-activating and stasis-resolving medications under a doctor’s guidance, such as Compound Danshen Tablets, Ibuprofen Tablets, or Metoprolol Tartrate Tablets.

5. Cervical Spondylosis

Patients who have received heart stents and also suffer from cervical spondylosis may experience arm pain due to compression of nerves that innervate the arm. It is recommended that patients consult their doctors when necessary and consider treatments such as massage, traction, or acupuncture.

Patients experiencing discomfort should seek timely medical evaluation and follow standardized treatment under professional guidance to promote recovery.
