Introduction
Under normal circumstances, watermelon should not be consumed together with foods such as mutton, shrimp, mangosteen, peaches, and mung beans. Mutton is warm in nature and has functions such as nourishing the kidneys, strengthening yang, warming the middle jiao, and relieving cold in the stomach. Watermelon is cold in nature and has effects such as clearing heat, relieving summerheat, promoting the production of body fluids, and quenching thirst. These two foods have opposite properties; consuming them together may subject the gastrointestinal tract to alternating hot and cold stimulation, leading to digestive dysfunction and symptoms such as abdominal pain and diarrhea.

Generally speaking, watermelon is not recommended to be consumed with mutton, shrimp, mangosteen, peaches, or mung beans. Details are as follows:

1. Mutton

Mutton is warm in nature and has functions such as nourishing the kidneys, strengthening yang, warming the middle jiao, and relieving cold. Watermelon is cold in nature and has effects such as clearing heat, relieving summerheat, promoting production of body fluids, and quenching thirst. These two foods are of opposite natures. Consuming them together may subject the gastrointestinal tract to alternating hot and cold stimulation, leading to digestive dysfunction and symptoms such as abdominal pain and diarrhea.

2. Shrimp

Shrimp is rich in nutrients such as protein and calcium. Watermelon contains a significant amount of vitamin C. Vitamin C may reduce pentavalent arsenic compounds in shrimp to trivalent arsenic (arsenic trioxide, or砒霜). Although this typically does not reach toxic levels under normal consumption amounts, consuming large quantities of both together may increase the risk and be detrimental to health.

3. Mangosteen

Mangosteen is also a cold-natured fruit. Consuming it in large quantities together with watermelon, which is similarly cold in nature, may intensify coldness in the body. This may damage the yang energy of the spleen and stomach, leading to disorders such as indigestion, abdominal distension, and loss of appetite.

4. Peach

Peach is warm in nature and contains abundant pectin and dietary fiber. Watermelon is cold in nature and has a high water content. Consuming them together may affect the normal digestive function of the gastrointestinal tract, causing discomfort such as stomach distension and pain, especially in individuals with weaker digestive systems.

5. Mung Bean

Mung beans have effects of clearing heat and detoxifying, relieving summerheat, and promoting diuresis. They are cool in nature. Watermelon is also cold in nature. Consuming both together may compound their cold nature, potentially causing excessive coldness in the body. For individuals with a cold constitution, this may easily trigger symptoms such as abdominal pain and diarrhea, and may also affect the body's yang energy.

In daily diet, it is advisable to appropriately combine various foods and pay attention to bodily reactions.
