Introduction
Methods for removing a hickey generally include covering it up, applying cold compresses, warm compresses, massage, and using medications. During the early stages of hickey formation, apply an ice pack or cold towel to the affected area for 10-15 minutes each time, repeating every 1-2 hours. Low temperatures cause blood vessels to constrict, reducing blood leakage, minimizing subcutaneous bleeding, thereby alleviating redness and swelling of the hickey, and controlling its spread and darkening.

Generally speaking, there is no such thing as a quick way to remove a hickey. Common methods for removing a hickey include covering it up, applying cold compresses, using warm compresses, massaging the area, and applying topical medications. The details are as follows:

1. Covering: Use cosmetics such as concealer or foundation to cover the hickey. First, select a concealer close to your skin tone and dab it onto the mark. Gently blend it using a makeup brush or beauty sponge, then apply foundation evenly over the entire face to achieve a natural covering effect and quickly mask the visible mark.

2. Cold compress: In the early stages of a hickey's formation, apply an ice pack or cold towel to the affected area for 10-15 minutes each time, repeating every 1-2 hours. The low temperature causes blood vessels to constrict, reducing blood leakage and minimizing subcutaneous bleeding, thereby alleviating swelling and preventing the hickey from spreading or darkening.

3. Warm compress: After 24 hours from the hickey's formation, switch to applying a warm towel or hot water bottle. The warmth promotes local blood circulation, accelerating the absorption and breakdown of accumulated blood under the skin, gradually lightening the mark. Apply the warm compress 3-4 times daily for 15-20 minutes each session for better results.

4. Massage: With fingers together, gently massage the hickey in circular motions. This technique stimulates the subcutaneous tissue and aids in promoting blood circulation, helping to dissipate bruising. Apply moderate pressure while massaging to avoid causing further damage. Performing this massage several times daily can accelerate the disappearance of the mark.

5. Medication: Apply topical ointments with blood circulation promoting and bruise-resolving effects, such as safflower oil, pain-relieving and swelling-reducing tincture, or mucopolysaccharide polysulfate cream. These medications act on the skin to improve local metabolism and promote the absorption of bruising. Apply the medication according to the product instructions and combine with appropriate massage to help the medication penetrate and speed up the fading of the hickey.

When treating a hickey, choose the appropriate method based on how long ago it formed, and multiple methods can be used together. Before trying a new medication or product, test it on a small area of skin first; discontinue use immediately if any allergic reaction or discomfort occurs. In daily life, avoid excessive kissing that may cause skin damage and take proper care to protect your skin.
