How much does hyperbaric oxygen therapy cost?
In Europe and the United States, a single session of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) costs approximately USD 400 or EUR 400, classifying it as a premium treatment. However, in China, HBOT is highly affordable: at our hospital, the cost per session ranges from RMB 70 to RMB 180, depending on treatment pressure, the patient’s oxygen delivery method (e.g., mask vs. hood), and body position (seated vs. supine).
For sudden sensorineural hearing loss, treatment typically involves 1–3 courses, each lasting approximately 10 days. For neurosurgical conditions—such as traumatic brain injury, intracerebral hemorrhage, or hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy—treatment usually requires 2–4 courses, with each course lasting about 10 days.
HBOT demonstrates remarkable efficacy in acute traumatic brain injury, significantly promoting recovery of consciousness, improvement of memory, and restoration of neurological function. In patients with post-concussion syndrome, HBOT effectively alleviates clinical symptoms—including dizziness, headache, palpitations, and memory impairment—some of which may even resolve completely.
