How much does hyperbaric oxygen therapy cost?
In China, hyperbaric oxygen therapy is very affordable. Costs vary depending on treatment pressure, the patient’s oxygen delivery method (e.g., mask or hood), and whether the patient sits or lies down during treatment—ranging approximately from ¥70 to ¥180 per session.
For sudden sensorineural hearing loss, treatment typically involves 1–3 courses, each lasting about 10 days. For neurosurgical conditions, 2–4 courses are generally required, with each course also lasting approximately 10 days.
In Europe and the United States, a single session of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) costs approximately USD 400 or EUR 400, classifying it as a premium treatment. However, in China, HBOT is highly affordable: at our hospital, the cost per session ranges from RMB 70 to RMB 180, depending on treatment pressure, the patient’s oxygen delivery method (e.g., mask vs. hood), and body position (seated vs. supine).
