Introduction
Black fungus has no direct therapeutic effect on gallstones in patients. As a type of fungus, black fungus may offer certain benefits for enhancing immune function and scavenging free radicals in the body; however, it does not exert any therapeutic effect on gallstones.

Gallstones are a common disorder of the biliary system, and their development is closely linked to lifestyle habits. Typical symptoms include fever and chills, jaundice, and abdominal pain—symptoms that can severely impair patients’ health and quality of life. Therefore, effective treatment of gallstones is critically important. Currently, many people prefer pharmacological therapy. But can black fungus (Auricularia auricula-judae) treat gallstones?

Can Black Fungus Treat Gallstones?

Black fungus does not have any direct therapeutic effect on gallbladder stones. As a type of edible fungus, black fungus may help enhance immune function and scavenge free radicals in the body—benefits that are generally positive for overall health—but it offers no proven efficacy against gallstones. Patients with gallstones may, however, moderately consume acidic fruits such as apples, tangerines, oranges, pomelos, hawthorns, and cherries. These fruits are rich in vitamin C, which promotes the conversion of cholesterol into bile acids in the body—a process beneficial for preventing stone formation.

Some patients with gallbladder stones require regular follow-up examinations. If the stone diameter is large or if recurrent inflammation occurs and conservative medical treatment proves ineffective, surgical intervention—such as laparoscopic cholecystectomy or gallbladder-preserving stone removal—may be indicated. For patients with common bile duct stones presenting with obstructive jaundice or signs of cholangitis, timely endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) with stone extraction is essential.

Avoid gas-producing foods: Refrain from consuming foods likely to cause bloating, including sweet potatoes, potatoes, celery, onions, radishes, leeks, soybeans, bamboo shoots, garlic, carbonated beverages, acidic fruit juices, coffee, and cocoa.

Increase intake of fiber-rich foods: Consume more soluble-fiber foods such as vegetables, fruits, oats, barley, red beans, and mung beans. Adequate hydration is also crucial—aim for at least 3,000 mL of plain water daily.

We hope the above information is helpful to you. Wishing you a healthy and joyful life!
