Why is the white part of the eye yellow with visible red blood vessels?
Disease description:
Today, I noticed yellowing of the sclera (white part of the eye) along with visible blood vessels while looking in the mirror. What could cause yellowing of the sclera accompanied by bloodshot eyes?
Common causes of yellowing of the sclera (white part of the eye) accompanied by bloodshot eyes include recent eye strain. For instance, staying up late or prolonged use of smartphones or computers over the past few days may lead to these symptoms. Additionally, bacterial infection of the eye causing inflammation can also result in yellowing of the sclera and bloodshot eyes. If localized pain is present, an ocular injury should be considered.
