What Causes Frequent Hiccups and Excessive Flatulence?
Disease description:
Recently, I’ve been eating relatively quickly, and afterward, I frequently experience belching and flatulence; occasionally, I also suffer from stomach pain and bloating. What could be causing excessive belching and flatulence?
Frequent hiccups and excessive flatulence indicate impaired gastrointestinal digestive function, often caused by gastric inflammation. When food irritates the inflamed area of the stomach, it triggers pain. Moreover, because food is inadequately digested in the stomach before entering the intestines, intestinal bacteria break down the undigested food residues, producing large amounts of gas. Some of this gas is expelled from the body via the anus, while the remainder travels retrograde into the stomach. This gas stimulates the gastric wall, triggering contractions that expel the gas upward as belching.
