Actions to Rapidly Increase Heart Rate
Disease description:
Recently, I’ve been feeling mentally and physically exhausted. I had an electrocardiogram (ECG), which showed that my heart rate is slower than normal. Could you please advise which physical maneuvers can quickly increase heart rate?
Generally, increasing heart rate through exercise is not an appropriate treatment for bradycardia (abnormally slow heart rate). Bradycardia can lead to inadequate blood supply to major organs throughout the body, resulting in symptoms such as dizziness, palpitations, fatigue, and shortness of breath; in severe cases, syncope (fainting) may occur. Patients with bradycardia must prioritize rest and avoid strenuous physical activity. If the heart rate is extremely slow, implantation of a cardiac pacemaker may be necessary to stabilize heart rhythm. A diet rich in vitamin-containing foods—such as vegetables and fruits—is recommended.
