Raisins are an excellent fruit for nourishing the blood. When grapes are sun-dried to make raisins, their skins are largely preserved, which helps retain stable nutrients such as iron, zinc, manganese, protein, and antioxidants. Dietary supplementation for iron-deficiency anemia primarily involves foods rich in iron. Convenient and practical options include red dates (jujubes), raisins, and dried longan flesh. Although these foods contain iron, they are considered “heat-inducing” in traditional Chinese medicine. Other iron-rich foods include pork liver, lean meat, red dates, black fungus, and hair-like seaweed (fat choy).
