Disease description:

I’ve been feeling unwell for over a week. After visiting the hospital for a medical examination, I was diagnosed with intra-abdominal lymphadenopathy. Could you please advise how intra-abdominal lymphadenopathy is treated?

Dr. Zhao Lianli
Abdominal lymph nodes are typically enlarged due to inflammation; once the inflammation resolves, the lymphadenopathy usually subsides—thus, anti-inflammatory treatment is indicated. If the lymph nodes are normal in size and asymptomatic, no treatment is necessary. Management of enlarged abdominal lymph nodes depends on the specific clinical context. For benign, asymptomatic lymph node hyperplasia in the abdomen, no intervention is required; regular monitoring suffices. However, if multiple abdominal lymph nodes are enlarged, further diagnostic evaluation is warranted—including upper endoscopy (gastroscopy), colonoscopy, abdominal CT imaging, and tumor marker testing—followed by targeted treatment based on findings. Importantly, do not self-medicate, as inappropriate drug use may mask symptoms and lead to misdiagnosis.
