How much does basal body temperature increase during pregnancy?
Disease description:
I’ve just found out I’m pregnant, but I’ve recently noticed my body temperature seems elevated. I’d like to know how much basal body temperature increases during pregnancy.
In general, a pregnant woman’s body temperature rises during early pregnancy and returns to her pre-pregnancy normal range by the second trimester (around week 13). After conception, a woman’s basal body temperature typically increases slightly, usually ranging between 36.9°C and 37.2°C. This elevation in temperature during early pregnancy is a normal physiological phenomenon and can serve as an early indicator of pregnancy. Pregnant women may monitor their temperature changes for this purpose. However, if abnormal temperature fluctuations are observed, prompt medical evaluation is recommended to rule out potential underlying health conditions.
