What should I do if I get chilblains?
Disease description:
Recently, possibly due to the weather, I’ve noticed my chilblains have become more severe, which has caused me considerable concern. Could you please advise on how to manage chilblains?
Chilblains can be treated with medications—for example, topical application of vitamin E ointment or chilblain ointment to alleviate symptoms. If ulceration occurs, topical antibiotic ointments may also be used. Additionally, oral medications—such as nicotinamide and nifedipine—can help dilate blood vessels and improve chilblain symptoms. For more severe cases, adjunctive therapies—such as local infrared irradiation—may also be beneficial.
