Can loratadine treat allergic urticaria?
Disease description:
I am a 22-year-old woman. Recently, I have been experiencing allergic urticaria more frequently, and I would like to consult whether loratadine can be used to treat allergic urticaria.
Loratadine is effective for treating urticaria. This drug belongs to the clinically common second-generation H1 receptor antagonists and can effectively reduce mucosal swelling caused by urticaria, alleviate local edema, and relieve pruritus. In addition to loratadine, numerous other medications are available clinically, including cimetidine tablets, cetirizine tablets, chlorpheniramine maleate, diphenhydramine, and cyproheptadine hydrochloride. Corticosteroids may also be selected, as they exert anti-inflammatory, antiallergic, and edema-reducing effects.
