Disease description:

I’m 25 years old and frequently go out for leisure activities. Upon returning home, I noticed numerous red, swollen, and itchy pimples on my skin. My doctor diagnosed them as caused by hidden insect bites—specifically, blister beetle (Paederus) bites. What should I do if the blisters resulting from a blister beetle bite rupture?

Chigger dermatitis results from caustic bodily fluids released by the mite after its death, manifesting as band-like or patchy erythema, pustules, and erosions with exudation. Accidental crushing of the mite may leave residual body fluids in the exudate, thereby irritating surrounding healthy skin and causing erythema and erosion. Initially, saline-moistened gauze may be applied to reduce exudation. Prompt consultation with a dermatologist at a reputable hospital is recommended.
