Differences Between Baby Eczema and Heat Rash
Disease description:
My neighbor’s baby has redness on the skin along with small bumps, which look very much like heat rash. What are the differences between infantile eczema and heat rash?
Differences Between Infantile Eczema and Miliaria (Heat Rash)
Eczema in infants may be triggered by allergies, sun exposure, or bacterial infection. It typically manifests on the skin as erythematous patches, papules, or plaque-like papules, often accompanied by pruritus (itching). In contrast, miliaria (heat rash) arises primarily from hot weather, excessive sweating, or prolonged exposure to humid environments. Clinically, miliaria may present as red or white bumps on the skin and is commonly associated with pruritus and a stinging or prickling sensation.
