What Is the Difference Between Baby Heat Rash and Eczema?
Disease description:
My neighbor’s baby has developed small bumps on the skin. The baby’s grandmother says it’s heat rash. What is the difference between infantile heat rash and eczema?
Distinguishing Infant Heat Rash from Eczema:
Heat rash manifests on the skin as erythema (redness) accompanied by small red or white papules; it is often associated with pruritus (itching) and a stinging or prickling sensation. Heat rash typically occurs during hot weather. In contrast, eczema commonly appears on the face as erythematous plaques, papules, or papulovesicular lesions. Eczema arises due to allergic reactions or contact with irritants and can occur year-round.
